Here's a thought:  Could RAB be Regulus Black?  I have gone back and 
read the section in OOTP that talks about Serius family tree...chapter 
6, pg 111...and Serius younger brother was a DE and killed by LV or on 
LV's order.  He wanted out and perhaps he knew about the horcrux in 
the cave.  Could he have gotten it from the cave by himself?

I can't find any reference to his middle name or middle initial.
