So Harry has "pretty much given up on doing or attempting"
Occlumency for some pretty integral psychological reasons. Sounds
like once again Snape just doesn't "get" Harry. To me his insistence
that Harry play by LV's rules (mouth shut, mind closed) doesn't
sound like valuable advice from a caring mentor.

It does appear as though Harry has given up on Occlumency, but I think he
might find that he, like Voldemort, has a gift for legilimency. After all,
in OotP, he gets a flood of Snape's memories when he is simply trying to
protect himself from Snape's legilimency by using the protego spell.and
Snape is supposed to be a gifted Occlumens. If so, I wonder how Harry will
use this talent.
