Yes, I see what you mean.  However, I suspect that the 'clock' is not 
really a clock but a magical device within a grandfather clock case.  
If you have seen grandfather clocks you may know that the 'hood', 
which is the part that covers the face, comes off by pulling it 
forwards, exposing the face and workings.  I would envisage the said 
grandfather clock having such a system which enables the whole of the 
clock hood, including dial with face showing who is where, being 
detached together and therefore able to be carried around.  Fairly 
large, I admit, but certainly not impossible.  Hope this helps.
