I think it would be somewhat of a let-down to see Trevor as an 
animagus. That sort of (that exact) plot device was carried through 
with Scabbers/Peter Pettigrew, and it would seem a bit lame (and 
lazy, on JKR's part) to do the exact same thing again. I vote, too, 
that he's there for entertainment value. It could be possible he'll 
play a more important role, indirectly (e.g, Neville sees that 
Trevor is missing, searches for him, and stumbles upon the location 
of the Ravenclaw horcrux, or something), but I'm 98.352% sure he's 
not animagus.
