I assumed that the ring Marvolo had belonged to Salazar Slytherin, butnow I'm not so sure.  The *locket* certainly did, but it says that thering had the Peverell coat of arms engraved on it.  Has anyone heardof the Peverell family before?  Are they an extinct family, perhaps?

Where does it say about the Peverell family? Doesn't Marvolo say when he's visited by the MoM about Mofrin's use of magic against a muggle the it was Salazar Slytherin's ring?
