I have thought long and hard of why he might call himself "half-blood 
prince". It sounds to me like what someone might say if they were 
affectionately teasing someone.(someone teasing snape)Sort of like an 
affectionate nickname. This is the only reason I can think of that 
someone would want to call themselves something seen as slightly 
deragatory.
