We have it on good authority that Satan cannot cast out Satan - how, 
then, can Horcrux cast out Horcrux?  In Cos, the Phoenix-delivered 
Hat plays a pivotal role in providing Harry with the weapon he needs 
to destroy Tom Riddle's basilisk, as well as the diary, i.e. (as we 
know at long last), one-seventh of Voldemort's soul. I'll sooner 
believe that Snape killed DD for benevolent reasons than I'll believe 
that the Hat - or the sword - is tainted. 

It's much more likely - as JKR has hinted - that Godric's Hollow has 
some actual link to GG, and that Harry may discover some Godric-
linked Horcrux when he visits his parents' gravesite.
