Heather now:

Except for the fact that JKR has said outright that Godric's Hollow is a
village.

So unless she's lying in her own FAQ, she's not using that sort of wordplay.

Besides which again, where would Lily and James' house have been? Voldy
went up to the 'front door', not the 'mouth of the cave'. Also, JKR
apparently had direct input into the film scene of GH, and it looked
like a pretty straight-forward normal house in normal (ie, not cave)
surroundings.

Cute idea, but it doesn't stand up to canon.

I just think it's a hitherto-undiscovered part of the Chamber of
Secrets. :)
