I am thinking that the ring is the Black family ring at the moment, 
mostly because it is the only real clue I have! I think the fact 
that JKR mentions this ring so particularly, and shows that Kreacher 
has saved some things may be important...

I think the picture on the ring looks like a serpent on a shield, 
but it really is too fuzzy to tell.
