Mich Verrier:
I really don't think that Harry or any one else who uses the Floo Network 
can travel their whole body through the fire, or if they can then they do it 
only at certain times. The part in The Chamber of Secrets comes to mind when 
Harry ended up in Knockturn Alley the first time he travelled by Floo Powder.  At 
that time he was able to climb out of the fireplace and look around at where 
he was.  I do however think that the only way that he would just have used 
his head to travel through and left the rest of him where he was would have 
been when he needed to have a quick word with people like Lupin or some one 
like that.
