Good point.  Especially since the Wizan-whatever seems to be the only
wizard governing authority and it's made up largely of wizards and
witches who've "paid their dues", so to speak.  A society where great
reverence is paid to senior citizens and survivors.

On the other hand, it's also a society where the Prime Directive is
"don't let the muggles find out!" so I'm not sure that sticking to
old-fashioned ideas/things isn't at least partly a way to keep
separate from the muggle world.
