I have a sneaking suspicion that Dumbledore has already /taken care
of/ Kreacher. Dumbledore, after questioning Kreacher, would have
realize that not only was he a loose cannon, but a traitor, and as
such, felt it necessary to eliminate that bit of evil.

How can Kreacher be a traitor - he's never made any pretence of being loyal
to the Order. An enemy certainly, but not a traitor. You cannot betray
someone you never supported.
