Magalud:

I have been more curious about the "prince" title than half-blood since the book's title came out. The reason is that it is so completely unexpected in the series. It would be such a big revolution in the Potterverse to suddenly have monarchy and royal ways that I believe it has to be some sort of metaphor.

No offence to anyne, but I don't share wild theories about characters suddenly being discovered as royalty - not even Harry, who has always been portrayed as a common wizard boy and a student struggling in his grades. Snape, however, has been shown as the opposite as having been born with a silver spoon in his mouth. He strikes me as someone whose family, despite being pureblood, was fairly poor or just had trouble to make ends meet. Not at all one who secretly had a royal background.
