You may well be right, Bonnie. If so, it would be VERY helpful to
have that explained to us. At the moment, though, we do have DD's
statement about how "I have watched you more closely than you can have
imagined." Does he mean just at Hogwarts? Or are the Dursleys
included? If so why was Mrs. Figg in place? Just what DID Mrs. Figg
tell Dumbledore in her reports? All of this is information that could
go a very long way toward polishing Dumbledore's image once again in
certain quarters -- or further demolishing it, as the case may be.
