hieroglyphics and I think that we will see something about Eygpt again.

Who else was there that night? Just what did Snape put in his
pensive? Was it Snape or someone else? Or ???

They're rune symbols. JKR makes a point of Harry noticing the rune 
symbols around the penseive in OOTP.
