Rebecca:
I believe Tom Riddle was in his sixth year when Hagrid was in his
third, so they are very close in age.

Maybe Hagrid was Ogg's assistant while Malfoy, the Weasleys and the
Marauders were in school? <<

Rebecca:
The Weasley parents were probably *not* in school the same time as
the mauraders, unless Arthur and Molly were already having kids
before they graduated. I think you're right about Hagrid being an
assistant to Ogg when Molly and Arthur were in school. Ogg may or may
not have left before James et al came to Hogwarts (we do know that
Hagrid knew them well enough and was quite fond of them).

Rebecca:
I think the Lexicon might help you out here.

If you exclude the Weasley parents from being the same age as Harrys
parents then it makes a lot more sense.
