Exactly, so Ron isn't too far off with *his* assessment,
either :)

Now, if Ron and Hermione could just get together and combine
their ideas, they might get closer to the whole picture
regarding the house elves.

Ron insists the elves like what they do (true), and Hermione
insists that the way they get treated is wrong (also true).

But getting them *freed* against their will not only means
they get treated the same way Hermione knows is wrong
(making them do something someone else considers appropriate
instead of having choices), but also means they are without
a means to support themselves.

There need to be some contingency plans, instead of just
losing them their homes and lively hood, and then
congratulating them on their newly acquired freedom.
