I won't say who the character is, but let's face it, at one time or
another, we have all predicted this particular characters death.
Further it is a standard generic fair for this particular character to
die in stories like this. So betting on him/her is the most uninspired
unimaginative bet you could possibly make.

So, now we must ask, is JKR a generic uninspired unimaginitive author?
Or, is she inspired and imaginative enough to come up with some unique
twist on such a tired old theme? 

I suspect what happened is some random bloke was having his coffee at
the local coffee shop and said, I think 'so-and-so' is going to die,
and the mere fact that this person was within 50 miles of the printing
factory set off a stampede to the local betting shop. 

So, predicting the death of this particular character is nothing new,
in fact, it is as old as the books themselves, and predicting the
death of this /type/ of character is centuries old.

Move along folks, nothing to see here.
