The funny thing is, I remember people being very
sarcastic before HBP, when somebody speculated that
Snape might be the prince.
And the reasoning went along similar lines to what
your offer above: "You silly Snapefans, just accept it
- he is just a minor nuisance on Harry's hero journey,
he'll never be a central character in any of the
books".
Mind you, I don't think myself that Snape will share
the glory of Harry's victory - JKR hates him too much
for that; but the reasons which bring you to the same
conclusion I don't find convincing. :-)
