Very well said.  I agree with your assessment of the Snape situation.
 However, unlike you, I have no belief in JKR's humanity and
generosity being extended to this character.  I believe she will
satisfy the masses a la your Fatal Attraction example by completing
her unclean!Snape destruction in book 7.  For me, her simplistic view
of this character is now crystal clear.  And a great disappointment.
