I agree.  I just spent the weekend re-reading the first three 
books, getting ready to start re-reading GOF, before I see the 
movie again.   At the end of COS Harry is really hard on himself, 
blaming himself for letting PP live, and taking the blame for the 
future return of LV.  AD makes a big point of telling Harry that 
he did the right thing saving PP, that his father would have done 
the same thing, and that a wizard who is saved by another wizard 
always has a life-debt to his savior.
