Miles: I think we are, since Rowling strictly keeps chronology in 
all books 1 to 6. Not to do it here without any clue - kind of deus 
ex machina, I don't think she would do this. Furthermore, it's not 
necessary at all for the her to bamboozle with timeline.

Miles: I go with Redhen to state that Slughorn is not a different 
sort of Slytherin, but the prototype for the "real" Slytherins 
before Voldemort - one reason for Dumbledore to get him back to 
Hogwarts, but this is off-topic concerning this chapter.
