Horrific? I mean, sure Draco could die. IF Harry knew what the curse 
could do, I would absolutely agree with you and call it "horrific". 
Since he did not, I would call what he did to be supremely stupid, 
since it IS stupid to use the curses, whose meanings you do not know 
on people. I think  the fact that Harry was horrified by the effect 
of the curse cured him from this stupidity, but I don't know if I 
would call it horrific.
