ME - perhaps what Voldemort lost was his sense of purpose.  When he started, he might have had a plan to take control of the WW and impose his will on it, but now he seems to have enaged in random acts.  What good is it to force Snape away from Hogwarts, or to lose Draco like he did?

I think that Voldy's lost his plan - all he can do now is evil.
