This aspect of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince definitely 
paves the way for very different possible stories in Book # 7.  If 
Harry settles down and resumes his life as a student, some of his 
life will return to normal in Book # 7.  However, if he feels that he 
has now been forced to grow up enough to leave Hogwarts early and 
fight evil in the world at large, Book # 7 will take a sharp 
departure from the earlier books.  I'm definitely looking forward to 
seeing which path Harry will choose!
