Actually, no... the sword was used to kill the Basilisk; the 
Basilisk's FANG was used to destroy the diary... there's the 
difference...

But you must remember that Gryffindor's sword didn't become Horcrux!Sword because LV failed to complete the murder; he was Vapormort before he could make his final horcrux...  

I really like this idea... JMO, of course
