No one has to like him, but they can't treat him as a pariah either.

Sorry but I have to disagree. Thay can treat him however they wish. That is the very nature of freedom. If the entire wizarding world decided to treat him like a pariah it would be well with in their rights. Maybe not a nice thing to do but certainly their right to do so.
