I believe that the non-magical person who will "do magic" quite late
in life under "desperate" circumstances will be none other than
Argus Filch (our friendly squib caretaker and hall monitor)... he
has yet to show any magical abilities even with his "study" of his
magical correspondence course.  I, do believe, however, that he is
truly loyal to Hogwarts and would rise to defend her at all costs...
we may very well see an attack on Hogwarts itself in book 7.  It
would be wonderful to see the shocked and pleased look on Filch's
face when he was able to do a bit of magic.
