Neri:
One comment here. Karkaroff was captured by Moody some time *before*
GH (although his hering took place after it). How do we know that?
Because in the hearing Karkaroff doesn't know about Rosier's fate, and
Crouch Sr. has to tell him that Rosier "was caught shortly after you
were too. He preferred to fight rather than come quietly and was
killed in the struggle". Yet according to Sirius (GoF, Ch. 27, the
famous "Slytherin gang" recount): "Rosier and Wilkes - they were both
killed by Aurors the year before Voldemort fell". Therefore Karkaroff
was caught the year before GH, and the six months it took Moody to
track him should not be counted in figuring the time of the attack on
the Longbottoms after GH.
