Hi Jen, welcome to the group!

I also don't see the Dumbledore/Jesus parallel. (Well, I do see that 
his death may have been a sacrifice, but that does not even make him 
unique, in the series. There's Lily...)

But Rowling is not an atheist, she has stated in an interview that 
she is a Christian. I am including a link to the page where I found 
it, and her comment on her faith and her writing.
