A word about DD's methods with Kreacher; I am sure that, while milk

Black's portrait to get anything he wanted from Kreacher. No
unforgivable there.

Maybe, maybe not. (by the way, and please correct me if I'm wrong, I
think what Moody said in the classroom in GOF that its an automatic
sentence in Azkaban to use an unforgivable on another Human). He also
wouldn't have had to use crucio, there would be other spells of less
severity which might be considered less than "saintly" to use. The
only point I'm trying to make is that I don't think DD has to be a
saint in order to be good.
