Yup, it's definitely Merope Gaunt. I think it's really just simple as that, nothing more.
It's really no shocking mystery and twist as people seem to think it is.  I find it a bit
funny that people are still speculating and coming up with theories about this when it's
been already answer in book 6 so black and white. But oh well, to each and hiw own, but
sure there'll be lots of "that's it?!?!" disappointment when book 7 is out...hehh...
