<As for a hiding place for another Horcrux, what do you think of the

Neil, you are absolutely right. However I would have to say in MHO that there was a horcrux there in HBP.However, not any longer.

If you have every tried to plot out your own piece of fantasy or fan fiction you will quickly find out that as in real life that plots have to make logical sense. Yu can't have char. do things unless there is a reason. JKR has to follow the same rule.

So here is my logic. Some others have pointed out before that the use
of the vanishing cabinet for the attack on Hogwarts did not make logical sense. Well it would, if the primary goal of the attack was not Hogwarts but to obtain
something from the room of requirment. There are easier ways to get into the Hogwarts but not the room of requirements. Imagine trying to pace three times in front of the room with spells flying at you. Difficult. However once you are in the room of requirments you can leisurely grab whatever you came to get (prob the Tierra of Ravenclaw ) which Harry used to hide his potions book, and scadadle through the castle doing any other damage you can and trying for secondary goals like killing Dumbledore. That is my take anyway, and I'm sure it is not a unique thought.
