To say this implies that Elves are somehow "less" than Humans, which 
we know to be untrue as they have quite strong magical powers 
themselves and are also capable of independent thought and 
emotion...they are not "pets" they are enslaved by WHATEVER you want 
to call it...just because the law states they are subhuman does not 
make it so...American law used to claim Blacks were subhuman and it 
didn't make it true.
