OK, didn't they explain in the book that the dementors do not pay  
attention to him in dog form because they do not sense animal  
emotions the same way? All he has to do is go through the forest  
basically. Getting in and out of the castle itself never appears to  
be a big problem for three teenagers, let alone an animagus. I don't  
see what the big mystery is.
