No leash.  I see it as two people who realize they have no choice but to 
work together in order to accomplish a shared goal.  They may not 
particularly like it but neither can manage on their own. Being an OFH!Snape 
person (putting on Kevlar vest in case Sydney still has that gun <g>) it 
makes perfect sense that this would be my take on what has been written. 
There's certainly enough canon to make it possible.

DD's last scene on the Tower....  Snape came in after all the talk with 
Draco so he doesn't know what went on.  I'm sure he'll find out from Draco 
or the DE's but we won't know his reaction to it all until book 7 is 
released.
