It looks like a beanie with slits on either side. Traditionally, 
they were knitted with wool, so stretchy. The quilt matterial ones 
have larger splits on the sides since they don't stretch as well.

If Dobby can wear a tea cosy, that makes his head the size of a tea 
pot. So is it the tea pot like the one the Mad Hatter uses in Alice 
in Wonderland for his tea party, or the one Mary Poppins uses on the 
ceiling?

Great question, Lynn and now watch the debate over the size of 
Dobby's head grow .... lol
