I think you're right. I do remember an interview with JKR saying that a 
friend reminded her that they had seen a plant called a Hogwort at a 
flower show. But JKR said she hadn't remembered that. Even if that was 
the source, it looks like in the meantime she turned it into the 
warthog image.
