I think you are forgetting who the character is who J.K. Rowling
identifies with.....
J.K. Rowling is smart, a book worm, and obviously can be very
glamorous at times. She is writing about a young woman who can "have
it all"..who doesn't have to pretend to be stupid to get dates, who
doesn't have to travel in packs and giggle, and still be feminine,
who is smart and gutsy and practical, but still can be glamorous..but
who doesn't take glamour very seriously. Remember J.K. Rowling's
comments about anorexic models...
