So, you are suggesting that this was an accidental magic drop down? 
Aren't those happen when wizards are upset? So, wouldn't it be Snape 
who is more likely to cause it?

Huh? So Harry should have realised that he does not need a good 
grade for well done work?

Where in canon it is shown that Harry craves Snape approval as a 
person rather than  that he expects as **any** student to get a good 
grade for good work?

Isn't it a fairly reasonable expectation for any student to have?
