No, I don't think you misread the books. What I think happened is that
the news writer didn't bother to read the books at all, and just
pulled his report together from general knowledge and assorted press
releases.

Really, new reporting today is in such a sorry state. As long as what
 you write is short and fits in the available space, which is usually
very small, and reads relatively smoothly, odd things like the facts
needn't get in the way.

I think I read references to the continuation of the Harry/Cho story,
so I don't think Luna will enter the story as any sort of love
interest for Harry. I think we are seeing a case of a news sources
more interested in getting the story out than in getting it right.

Just a thought.
