I think it is entirely possible that Harry's mental state, perhaps the
most vulnerable we have seen in all the books has a very bad effect on
his ability here against Snape. I think Harry would have less of a
difficulty with LV than Snape. Yes, Harry hates LV, but he did not know
his parents; not in an intimate manner. He has no real history with his
parents personally. Harry's hate for LV stems from a kind of idealized
idea of what was taken from him. The taking of Albus Dumbledore along
with his history of personal hate for Snape is a very intimate and
immediate kind of hate that is different from his idealized hatred of
LV.
