Hi Cat!
Some (long) time before I have been thinking the same way as you do.
But I even went further:
Pettigrew ows his life to Harry and when brewing the potion to revive
LV he gave his right hand, the one with the missing finger. So I think
that there might be something to this (an incomplete hand and Harry's
blood, to which he has a life dept).
But what the exact answer would be I don't know though it might save
Harry's life if Pettigrew would want to pay this life dept back ...
but who knows except for JKR ...
