There are two possiblities. Either Charlus and Dorea are James's 
parents. Or they are not. Given the subjective nature of "later in 
life" and "getting on in years"; and given JKR's vague use of numbers: 
this couple could be Harry's grandparents. They could just as likely be 
James's aunt and uncle. 

Harry saw a mirror full of people. Could they all have been distant 
ancestors? Lupin says in PoA that LV went to GH to kill the last of the 
Potters. That implies there were other Potters who had been killed. By 
the time Harry is looking at the tapestry, those Potters are dead and 
gone. If this is a cousin, he could be incredibly unimportant to the 
story and we'll likely never hear of him again.

If, however, you take the dates off the chart, you have a different 
option. If you look at each line of characters as a generation, 
the "1s" appears in the same generation with Sirius's parents. He could 
be James's father, rather than James.
