I'm re-re-re-reading HBP again and two things keep coming up in this 
chapter.

Pg. 24 Scholastic Snape held up a hand to stop her, then pointed his 
wand again at the concealed staircase door.  There was a loud bang and 
a squeal, followed by the sound of Wormtail scurrying back up the 
stairs.
"My apologies," said Snape.  "He has lately taken to listening at 
doors, I don't know what he means by it...

Who else has been visiting Snape that Wormtail has been listening in on?

And, when Snape returns to Hogwarts for the school year, where does 
Wormatil go?  I don't see Snape or LV leaving Wormtail in the house 
alone.  Is he shipped off to another DE, or back to LV?  I don't see 
how leaving him in a Muggle neighborhood by himself would be a good 
idea.
