You are quite right. The training for dentists and veterinary 
surgeons is not a degree that usually leads to a doctorate.

Just as an aside, in UK medicine, "Mr." is almost a term of rank 
because it is only applied to a consultant or above. An 'ordinary' 
doctor is called just that.
