It's hard to see how Pettigrew could have set off the explosion the way
Sirius thinks he did. "he blew apart the street with the wand behind
his back, killed everyone within twenty feet of himself --" PoA ch
19. He'd have been more likely to blow his own buttocks off, if you
believe Moody's little lecture on wand safety in OOP. That's a big
risk to go through for someone soley dedicated to saving his own
skin.
