I'm one of the "Snape is DDM" people and I believe he will survive 
the last book, but will be so notorious he will have to flee the 
country and eventually arrive in New Jersey where he will be 
employeed in one of the many chemical labs. In North Jersey his 
abrasive personality will be so unremarkable that he will fit right 
in.
