Not only is America not that interesting, but also not many people died in American witch trials, compared to the people burned in Europe. Considering JK's general grasp of history (I am a graduate student in medieval European history, so I have some authority in that), I think she probably has a good understanding of how many people died in the witch burning times...and not only witches, but "heretics" during the Inquisition, and particularly during the reigns of Mary and Elizabeth in England. She seems to be a smart cookie...she also seems to not give one whit about America, since it's very rarely mentioned in the books...has it ever been mentioned? Agreeing with Gerry, but meaning no offense, and as always, IMHO, Katie
