Nikkalmati:
You have raised an intriguing issue that I had never thought of. If NF and
DD were working together during DD's lifetime, it must have been within the
last 120 years or so. Yet he seems to be close enough to NF to convince him
to give up the stone and die. Perhaps they had known each other for a longer
time and had worked on the stone and other projects together.
If DD rejuvenates at regular intervals, he could be as old as NF, or older.
He would have no need of the stone, because his transformation comes from
another source. Call it Phoenix power. At the time we see him in the Pensieve
he is only 100 years old in his current avatar. It does not reflect his true
total age. Of course, this would be another clue that DD is not dead and
avoids the problems presented IMHO by murder or assisted suicide.
